San Ramon is a city in Contra Costa County, California, set in the San Ramon Valley at the eastern base of the East Bay hills, roughly 34 miles east of San Francisco and just south of Danville. It is one of the principal cities of the Tri-Valley, the suburban region that also includes Danville, Dublin, Pleasanton, and Livermore. With about 84,000 residents, San Ramon is a relatively young, affluent, and largely master-planned community that grew substantially during the late twentieth century around the Interstate 680 corridor. The city's economy is anchored by Bishop Ranch, a large business park and mixed-use campus that has long been one of the East Bay's major employment centers and that also contains the City Center shopping and dining district.
